If you love art, architecture, and New York history, Museum Mile offers one of the most inspiring walks in the city. Stretching along Fifth Avenue from 82nd to 105th Street, this leafy stretch beside Central Park is home to some of the world’s greatest cultural institutions. From The Met’s vast collection of ancient and modern masterpieces to the swirling curves of the Guggenheim, and from Austrian Secessionist art at the Neue Galerie to vibrant Latino culture at El Museo del Barrio, there’s something here for every kind of museum lover. It's a chance to see the city’s intellectual heart – all while strolling past elegant townhouses and historic buildings.

Start your morning at The Met (82nd Street) and walk north along Fifth Avenue, stopping next at the Neue Galerie and Guggenheim. Take a coffee break at Bluestone Lane (just off 90th Street), a popular Aussie-style café with great pastries and strong flat whites. Continue to the Cooper Hewitt and the Jewish Museum, then stroll further north to reach the Museum of the City of New York and El Museo del Barrio. For lunch, head to Evelyn’s Kitchen (Harlem, 105th Street), a casual spot with hearty bowls and standout cookies – or try Pisticci, a cosy Italian restaurant a short cab ride west. It’s a walk filled with inspiration, and each stop reveals a different story of culture, design, and the city itself.
